Foresight Lab's mission to drive innovation in sustainability and help accelerate progress on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The world is progressing at a remarkable pace. Sustainability is a pillar upon which the future will be built. If society is to truly accelerate the transition to a sustainable future then innovation must take centre stage. How business, government and cities innovate will directly impact the pace and scale of transformation.

Foresight Lab is focused on the leading edge of climate change and sustainability, anticipating tomorrow's agenda and researching innovative solutions to meet the challenge so that we are better prepared for what comes next. Issues like the role of digital in sustainability and how tools such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), hyper automation and quantum computing can be better used in an enabling capacity to accelerate sustainability.

Foresight Lab draws on the talent within Foresight and its collaborators to spearhead research and development projects aimed at exploring new and innovative ways to drive better sustainability outcomes. Twenty percent of the Foresight teams time is donated to Foresight Lab's innovation projects.

PROJECT BLOOM

Scope 3 emissions accounting and reporting is fraught with challenges. Businesses are struggling to capture and report a complete picture of their value chain emissions. Reliance on value chain partners, data gaps and poor data quality hinder accurate and complete reporting for many organisations. Foresight Lab is undertaking a project to explore the use of digital to improve scope 3 emissions accounting including working on solutions that leverage unstructured and dark data and predictive analytics to improve the quality of scope 3 emissions accounting.

PROJECT FELIX

Advanced analytics is a data analysis approach that adopts various techniques including predictive modelling, machine learning, deep learning, hyper automation and other types of statistical methods to analyse information from a range of data sources. Foresight Lab is undertaking a project that will look for new ways to apply advanced analytics to assurance and auditing.

PROJECT PIXEL

Investors, regulators and other stakeholders are demanding greater transparency from businesses on ESG performance and how plan to navigate adopting more sustainable business models. How business plan to decarbonise has emerged as a crucial issue. While communication of decarbonisation targets is at an unprecedented high business are failing to clearly articulate how they will achieve those targets. Foresight Lab is developing an interactive tool for decarbonisation story telling that will allow business to communicate their decarbonisation journey in a more insightful, interactive and engaging way.
